Biography

Dr. Amy Spencer received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice Performance with an emphasis in Opera Performance from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. Both through UT and independently, she has been teaching voice lessons for over 14 years.

Dr. Spencer has assisted students in auditioning successfully for the Texas All State Honor Choir, and her students have achieved top scores in All State Solo Competitions. She has also helped several of her students gain acceptance to major music schools through audition preparation and arranging personal introductions to faculty members.

Dr. Spencer was heard most recently at Bristol Riverside Theatre in their Winter Musicale, and in the chorus of Opera Philadelphia's La boheme, which was broadcast to an audience of 2,500 on Independence Mall. She has appeared locally with the all-professional choir of the Church of the Holy Trinity at Rittenhouse Square, under the direction of Dr. John French, Philadelphia Singers Chorale, Courtney's Carolers, and in various solo cabaret performances. She will be appearing this spring with the chorus of Opera Philadelphia's The Magic Flute.

Dr. Spencer has also performed with the Austrian American Mozart Academy, Kentucky Opera, the Davidson Singers in New York City, Colorado Lyric Theatre Festival, New Texas Music Works, Lexington Opera Society Tour, Santa Barbara Symphony, and the Opera Theatres of the University of California at Santa Barbara, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Kentucky. As a member of the Rudd Young Artist program at Kentucky Opera, Dr. Spencer toured all over Kentucky presenting over 50 performances and educating children about opera.

Dr. Spencer is a proud member of the American Guild of Musical Artists.
